New CEO for Choir with No Name

The Choir with No Name, the UK charity which runs choirs for people with lived experience of homeless and marginalisation, has announced the appointment of Kate Wareham as Chief Executive from April 2022, succeeding founder Marie Benton who is stepping down after 14 years in the role.

The first Choir with No Name was started in North London 2008 and the organisation now supports seven choirs across the UK, bringing members together for weekly hot meals and rehearsals.

Kate Wareham has sung with her family and local choirs her whole life, set up and led office-based and community choirs, and still sings with Abbeydale Singers and other groups in Sheffield. She has worked as an Executive Director of Yorkshire Dance and at Orchestras for All, and as a fundraiser and in a freelance capacity for charities including The Children’s Society, National Autistic Society, St John Ambulance, youth homelessness charity Depaul UK, family support charity Home-Start Trafford, Salford and Wigan, and HIV charity George House Trust.

Kate Wareham said, ‘I’m thrilled to be joining the Choir with No Name team. I have admired the rousing choirs and their epic performances for a long time. I’m looking forward to working with each choir community and creating new choir communities across the UK’.
