Having celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015, the Three Choirs Festival is the longest running classical music festival of its kind in the world. Rotating between the English cathedral cities of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford, the festival hosts an annual summer programme packed with concerts, services, recitals, masterclasses, talks, theatre, and exhibitions.
Responding to recent UK government announcements which ‘have given a glimpse of hope, as we start to move into spring and summer’, the organisers have confirm that the next edition of the festival taking place between Saturday 24 July and Sunday 1 August 2021 in Worcester.
The programme and format of the event are now being finalised and details will be announced on the Three Choirs Festival website around mid-April.
Three Choirs will continue to follow guidance, restrictions and advice in order to ensure the festival is as safe as possible for its audience, artists and staff.
Dr Alexis Paterson, Three Choirs Festival Chief Executive, said: ‘We know that our devoted audience and fabulous festival chorus are keen to see the festival return in all its splendour this summer. We’re preparing for the best possible outcome, in line with the government roadmap, while keeping contingencies in place should we need to scale back the festival to ensure the safety of performers and audiences. Whatever the format, we know it will be a moment of real joy when our performers take to the stage again for nine glorious days of music-making.’
