The forthcoming name change has been prompted by the launch of a new project by the original sponsor
The North East of England’s iconic performing arts venue, Sage Gateshead, is to reinvent itself in autumn 2022 with a new name and visual identity.
Approaching its 20th anniversary, the venue – designed by Norman Foster’s company – is inviting people to share ideas about the planned name change.
The music centre is making the change both to distinguish itself from the new Sage conference centre being built close by, and to reflect its new role in the community.
Technology giant The Sage Group is sponsoring the adjacent conference centre under a £10m naming rights deal.
