World Symposium comes to Istanbul in 2023
Supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event will be organised by the Turkish representative of IFCM, the Choral Culture Association
The International Federation for Choral Music has announced that the next edition of the organisation’s flagship event, the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM), will be held in Turkey from 25-30 April 2023.
The 2023 theme is ‘Changing Horizons’, introducing singing traditions from across the world.
The organisers are inviting submissions ‘for presentations that are rooted in the exploration of diverse singing styles and traditions within countries and/or regions, showcasing collective singing practices that represent varied social, ethnic, geographical, and/or cultural backgrounds, encouraging presentation proposals that align with the symposium theme’.
Choirs and vocal ensembles ‘are encouraged to bring creative programs grounded in diversity through the inclusion of repertoire and performance practices that showcase different social, ethnic, geographical, and/or cultural backgrounds within each ensemble’s region’.
