Ivors Academy hits gender parity target on both boards

Less than a year after publishing their 12-point action plan for gender equality in its operations, The Ivors Academy and Ivors Academy Trust have achieved an important and symbolic goal: 50 percent gender balance on their boards

The appointments of Charlotte Harris, the music and entertainment partner of Harris and Trotter, Chartered Accountants, to the Ivors Academy Trust board and composer Hannah Peel to the Academy board have balanced the two bodies for the first time in their history.

Emily Saunders, board director and chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion steering group, was delighted with the news, ‘Our members deserve and expect a gender-balanced, representative and inclusive Academy and trustee board to represent their perspectives and interests.

‘This is one step of many that we are committed to taking to make sure we are fully diverse and inclusive in everything that we do.’

Other parts of the action plan include improving its protected characteristics data, diversity and equality training for staff and board members, 30 percent black, Asian and minority ethnic representation, 10 percent disabled and at least one person under 25 years old.
