Organs, organ music and organists will be celebrated around the world on International Organ Day on Saturday 23 April 2022.
Now in its third year, International Organ Day is promoted by The Royal College of Organists (RCO) to encourage people to explore and enjoy organ music, seek out performances, and support the development of new generations of musicians and enthusiasts.
To mark the occasion, the RCO will be premiering a brand-new edition of The Organ Show, the online magazine-style programme featuring a mix of interviews, chat, features and studio guests, first launched in 2021 in response to pandemic restrictions on physical events.
We are also encouraging organists around the world to organise local events – pandemic restrictions permitting – or take to social media or do whatever else they are able to do to help put this right, celebrating our music, reaching out to people, and inspiring a whole new generation to embrace the King of Instruments.
Anyone organising events or activities for International Organ Day is encouraged to share details by using the hashtag #internationalorganday, and tagging @InternationalOrganDay on Twitter and Facebook. Event organisers with Facebook Pages can also add events from their own page to the events calendar on the International Organ Day Facebook page. For enquires and questions about the event, please contact internationalorganday@rco.org.uk.
The Organ Show 2022 will be available to watch on the RCO YouTube channel www.youtube.com/RCOFilms from 8pm BST on Saturday 23 April.
