Taking place in Berlin from 21-24 April 2022, this first event in a planned annual series of in-person conferences aims to provide, according to the organisers, ‘a meeting place for the choral industry and an open forum to contribute to a better understanding and promotion of current developments in the choir scene’.
QUO VADIS CHORAL MUSIC will address urgent challenges facing choral leaders, with a specific focus on resilience, diversity and inclusion as well as choral education projects and audience visibility.
The wide-ranging conference programme covers subjects across the choral eco-system. A panel discussion focusses on inclusion and diversity in choral communities and includes speakers from the European Choral Association, Flanders-based network Koor&Stem and the German Youth Choir’s Chor.leben project. Other panels and sessions cover education initiatives, festivals, music publishing, and sponsorship and funding, as well as ‘projects that are changing the perception of choral music and designing the future of the international choral scene’.
QUO VADIS is presented jointly by Berlin-based choral education pioneer CHORALSPACE and the leading German radio choir Rundfunkchor Berlin. According to CHORALSPACE founder Gent Lazri, ‘The Rundfunkchor Berlin has taken a leading role in creating new cross-genre projects in recent years and is therefore the ideal host for the first edition of the QUO VADIS Conference’.
QUO VADIS CHORAL MUSIC takes place from 21-24 April 21 to 24 at the Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin.
Participants include representatives of Carus-Verlag, chor.com, CHORALLY, CHOREOS, Deutscher Chorverband, Deutscher Musikrat, Edition Peters, European Choral Association, Eurovision Choir of the Year, INTERKULTUR, Komische Oper Berlin, KOOR & STEM, Neuer Kammerchor Berlin, Rundfunkchor Berlin, Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, Spielhagen Chor, Staats- und Domchor Berlin, Stay At Home Choir, TOGETHER – Chor.Leben, Universität der Künste Berlin, VOCES8, Vokalhelden, World Choir Games and World Choir of Peace.
