Bachfest Malaysia seeks sponsorship for bi-lingual Bach biography

The translator of a new biography of the composer is appealing for additional pre-orders to fund the publication.

Bach: A Pictorial Biography/Eine Bildbiografie was published in Germany in 2021, written by renowned Bach scholar and the Artistic Director of Bachfest Leipzig, Professor Dr Michael Maul.

The book features more than 140 photographs from the collections of major libraries and museums in Germany, with interesting facts about Bach’s life arranged by year in the form of a picture and a story.

The biography has been translated by conductor Dr David Chin, the Artistic Director of Bachfest Malaysia, and will be published this year (2022) in English and Chinese. According to Chin, ‘We hope that this book will break through the language barrier and promote Bach’s musical story to the Chinese community worldwide, in order to fulfill our mission of “Making quality music accessible and enriching cultural life”.’

To fund the publication, Bachfest Malaysia needs pre-orders of 800 copies at a cost of MYR150 (€30). Currently (18 April) there are 330 orders remaining.
