Sing Up At Home’s #FeelgoodFifteen project started on 12 January 2021 with fifteen minutes of musical fun to wake up pupils and get them ready for a day of learning. Run by a professional vocal leader, the live sessions include warming up and singing so that children can enjoy the mental and physical benefits of singing.
The programme is aimed primarily at children aged 4-11 and their carers and can be viewed live or later at www.youtube.com/singup as well as the organisation’s own platform.
Sing Up started in 2007 with government funding and the aim to revive singing as part of school life. It rapidly spread out its programme to almost all primary schools across the UK. Since the funding ended, Sing Up has continued to support itself with school membership subscriptions, an indicator of the value many schools place on its work.
Sing Up At Home was originally launched for subscribing schools during the first lockdown with teachers able to embed direct links to the site through the schools’ own VLE.
With the new schools’ lockdown happening so suddenly in England, Sing Up decided it should offer the #FeelgoodFifteen resource free of charge to all children in and out of school, to improve their mental wellbeing during these difficult weeks.
