Scottish Opera opens next round of Breath Cycle online singing sessions

Scottish Opera’s Breath Cycle is an online project designed to benefit those living with a range of conditions affecting lung health, in particular Long COVID. Resources have been developed with support from NHS consultants.

Together with free self-paced online courses, Scottish Opera’s team offers singing and songwriting sessions over Zoom.

Registration is now open for the next round of sessions starting in June. Weekly singing sessions take place on Wednesdays starting on 7 June, and songwriting is scheduled fortnightly every other Thursday from 15 June. Sessions are free of charge but limited to 50 participants.

In the singing sessions, Scottish Opera musicians introduce participants to fun, stimulating vocal exercises and breathing techniques, as well as teaching a range of songs chosen to help strengthen core muscles, develop breath control, and improve posture.
