The RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) has chosen to celebrate its royal patron’s Platinum Jubilee year with a new anthem from composer Thomas Hewitt Jones.
The anthem is part of the RSCM’s Platinum Project and is called In Our Service. The piece is just four minutes in length and was specifically created to be accessible and fun for all to sing, including cathedral and church choirs, choral societies, chamber choirs and school and community choirs.
The RSCM has made the anthem available in digital download form including versions for full choir and organ, and unison choir with piano. Rehearsal tracks are available and a full symphonic orchestration can be hired..
Hewitt Jones said, ‘I was absolutely delighted to have been asked by the Royal School of Church Music to write this work to celebrate HM the Queen’s special jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II’s reign is typified by selfless service to her country.’
The aim of the Platinum Project is to have choirs across Britain and the Commonwealth rehearsed and ready to sing In Our Service on or around the Jubilee weekend, 2-5 June 2022.
