Mallika Bhagwat to join The Swingles

International a cappella group The Swingles has announced its latest new member, Mallika Bhagwat, who will join the group in June 2023.

Originally from Mumbai, Bhagwat moved to the UK at the age of 11 and now lives in London. While studying at King’s College London, she sang with The Rolling Tones for four years, with two years as musical director. She is now completing a PhD studying the vocal technique of female playback singers in Bollywood. She is also a student of the Hindustani vocal tradition, specifically Ghazal.

Mallika Bhagwat said, ‘I’m beyond humbled and so excited to become a part of this iconic group of singers. I’ve been a huge fan for so many years now and embarking on this new adventure as a Swingle feels like an actual dream come true! I can’t wait to see what the future holds (once my voice has recovered from all the excited shrieking)!’
