At the heart of all musical performance lies a true sense of community – a genuine social power to unite us all through our mutual love of music. Choral repertoire heightens this concept even further, as the text and language add yet another layer of cultural identity; providing the opportunity for heightened connection and exchange.
In February 2023, CHORALSPACE presents Homelands, a project symbolising choral musicians as cultural ambassadors. Homelands empowers singers and directors to explore new sounds and unique traditions with fellow vocal ensembles, supported by key choral figures from around the world. Five diverse regions will be represented, aiming not only to musically characterise their own nations, but also to transcend these geographical borders to create innovative community clusters.
CHORALSPACE welcomes all choral enthusiasts to Homelands. Whether you are an individual or a choir bringing along the characteristic musical stories from your own country, or an expatriate enjoying reconnecting with the music from your homeland – this is an opportunity for us all to connect through the universal language of music.
Homelands is a unique event, aiming to forge distinctive and exciting relationships; to bridge cultural gaps by embracing all manner of genre, style and language. CHORALSPACE is thrilled to welcome the remarkable conductor, Mihály Zeke, to the Homelands stage. Mihály will showcase not only his own acclaimed chamber choir, Cythera, but a pioneering Festival Stage Choir – made up of all the singers and ensembles, performing as one global culture.
