Organisations / PARTNER
A leading choral association and event organiser based in Hong Kong.
World Youth and Children Choral Artists’ Association (WYCCAA) was founded in 2015 by the renowned choral expert, Prof. Leon Shiu-wai Tong. It builds upon the success, and serves as a structural continuation, of the Hong Kong Treble Choirs’ Association (HKTCA) which was founded in 1997.
WYCCAA, having evolved from HKTCA to an organisation supported by local and international choral experts, is determined to serve the Hong Kong and international choral community on a more global perspective: to organise events suited to a wider age range (from children’s choirs only to children’s and youth choirs), to organise events outside of Hong Kong, and to build a truly international exchange platform for choral professional and lovers.
WYCCAA inherits the history of HKTCA. Established in 1997, HKTCA has a track record of organising large-scale, summit-like, international choir festivals in Hong Kong that encompass world-class choral performances, premieres, competitions, masterclasses, workshops, conventions and cultural exchanges.
Most recent accomplishments include the World Choral Conducting Competition in 2019; World Youth & Children’s Choir Festivals in 2015, 2017, 2019; Belt & Road World Choir Festival in 2018; Hong Kong International Youth & Children’s Choir Festival in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013; World Children’s Choir Festival in 2005 as well as the 1st China International Children’s Choir Festival & World Symposium on Children’s Choral Music in 1998.
The Association has gained public recognition and financial support. In 2008, it was presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council with the Award for Arts Promotion, as well as being ranked as one of the Top 10 Music Headlines by RTHK Radio 4 in 2013.
