SUMMARY:World Symposium on Choral Music
DESCRIPTION:\nThe International Federation for Choral Music has announced that the next edition of the organisation’s flagship event, the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM), will be held in Turkey from 25-30 April 2023.Supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the event will be organised by the Turkish representative of IFCM, the Choral Culture Association.\n\n\n\nThe 2023 theme is ‘Changing Horizons’, introducing singing traditions from across the world. \n\n\n\nThe organisers are inviting submissions ‘for presentations that are rooted in the exploration of diverse singing styles and traditions within countries and/or regions, showcasing collective singing practices that represent varied social, ethnic, geographical, and/or cultural backgrounds, encouraging presentation proposals that align with the symposium theme’. \n\n\n\nChoirs and vocal ensembles ‘are encouraged to bring creative programs grounded in diversity through the inclusion of repertoire and performance practices that showcase different social, ethnic, geographical, and/or cultural backgrounds within each ensemble’s region’.\n\n\n\nApplications\n\n\n\n\nThe application deadline is 15 August 2022\n\n\n\nVisit the IFCM website for further information\n\n\n\n\nAbout WSCM\n\n\n\nThe World Symposium on Choral Music is a one-week event organised every three years, with regional symposia organised in alternate years. They occur in a prominent and attractive city which has the facilities, financial support and managerial structure to successfully plan and administer a major international or regional event.\n\n\n\nA local organising committee works in collaboration with the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Choral Music to promote artistic excellence, cooperation and exchange, by bringing together the finest choirs and choral leaders for performances, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and choral reading sessions.\n\n\n\nThe International Federation for Choral Music sponsors this project in cooperation with a national organisation, institution, or properly constituted committee in a host country. Whether world or regional, it is a meeting of the world’s most prestigious choral conductors and choirs.\n
